Productive Year for Dr. Fansen Meng!

Exciting news from the Martin Lab! Dr. Fansen Meng, a postdoctoral fellow in the Cardiomyocyte Renewal Laboratory at Texas Heart Institute, has made significant strides with his work. Over the past few months, he’s had the opportunity to share groundbreaking findings at multiple high-profile conferences. In addition to him receiving a Career Development Award from the American Heart Association, here’s a quick recap of his achievements:

  • January 2024: Received both an invitation for a short talk and a Travel Award at the Keystone Symposia in Santa Fe, NM.

  • April 2024: Awarded the Best Poster Award at the 11th CVRI Symposium, Baylor College of Medicine.

  • June 2024: Presented at the Cardiac Regulatory Mechanisms (GRC) in New London, NH.

  • August 2024: Invited for a short talk at the ISHR-NAS Pre-Conference Symposium in Long Beach, CA.

The title of his talks and award-winning poster was "Novel Gene Therapy Protects Mouse Heart from Myocardial Infarction", where he introduced a new therapy called CM-YAPon. This innovative small molecule treatment activates YAP expression in cardiomyocytes, providing long-term protection against heart damage post-myocardial infarction.

We look forward to seeing how this novel approach shapes the future of cardiovascular therapeutics. Congratulations to Fansen on his well-deserved accolades, and keep up the great work, Fansen!
