Funding News: Congratulations Dr. Turaga!

Exciting news! We are delighted to announce that Dr. Diwakar Turaga, our collaborator at Texas Children’s Hospital, was awarded funds by Additional Ventures to expand our congenital heart disease study program. In a highly competitive scientific review process, Dr. Turaga’s application entitled “Spatial Transcriptomics Investigation of Pediatric HLHS Myocardium” was selected for funding by the Additional Ventures Expansion Award Program. In this application, he proposed complementing our single-cell expression studies with spatial transcriptomics (ST). This technology allows us to gain essential information on how the genomic character of cells varies based on their localization in a tissue. ST also provides key insights into 1) the cellular composition of tissue and 2) cell-to-cell communication, both of which vary spatially in the heart. Without the support of Additional Ventures, we would not be able to use this state-of-the-art technology that is needed to conduct these essential studies. We are incredibly indebted to Additional Ventures for their continued support of our research and could not be more excited to get started on this work! Again, congratulations Dr. Turaga!
