CHD Grant Funded

We are thrilled to announce that our lab, along with our colleagues at Texas Children’s Hospital and Texas Heart Institute, was recently awarded a three-year grant from the 2021 Single Ventricle Research Fund program operated by Additional Ventures (see announcement here). In response to their call for proposals aimed at “identification and investigation of cardiac developmental pathways and mechanisms”, our team devised a research program to determine the molecular and cellular basis of myocardial dysfunction in hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). With this funding from Additional Ventures, we will gain a deeper insight into the molecular defects in HLHS, thereby facilitating the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for heart failure in HLHS.

We will employ single cell transcriptomics as illustrated above to study CHD development in the human heart
