Dr. Fansen Meng awarded AHA postdoctoral fellowship!

Dr. Fansen Meng, Postdoctoral Fellow, Integrative Physiology, BCM.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Fansen Meng, a postdoctoral fellow in our BCM group, was recently awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association for his grant application entitled "Hippo pathway in cardiac fibroblast regulates macrophage recruitment following injury". His project period runs from July 2022 to July 2024 and Dr. Meng will investigate the molecular crosstalk between cardiac fibroblasts and macrophages in the local cardiac microenvironment following acute myocardial injury. The long-term goal of his studies is to identify novel biomarkers and targets with the aim of guiding new cardiac therapies that reduce adverse remodeling and fibrosis and restore function to post-myocardial infarction hearts. This research program is based on very exciting observations that Dr. Meng made in his preliminary studies, so the Martin Laboratory is eagerly looking forward to hearing his updates in the upcoming years.

 Congratulations Fansen!
