Dr. Steimle Awarded an NIH K99/R00!
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Steimle, a postdoctoral associate in our BCM group, was recently awarded a Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) from NIH/NHLBI for his grant application entitled "Left-right asymmetry and PITX2 in atrial fibrillation". With this support, Dr. Steimle will investigate the epigenetic mechanisms underlying asymmetric left-right patterning in development and disease. A long-term goal of his studies is to identify mechanisms to rewire aberrant patterning for the prevention of cardiac arrhythmias. This newly funded program will enable Jeff to complete his postdoctoral training in the Martin Lab and carry him forward as he starts his independent career. We look forward to seeing his progress.
Congratulations Jeff!
